The Chasam Sofer develops a three-tiered framework for identifying a woman when delivering a get: identification before the shaliach's appointment requires only gilui milsa and even relatives suffice; identification at the moment of delivery constitutes a davar sheb'ervah requiring two kosher witnesses; identification between appointment and delivery may be validated b'dieved through relatives. He further argues that the Rema's use of the term 'two' in siman 141 implies formally kosher witnesses, contradicting the Beis Shmuel's lenient inference.
