Rabbi Akiva Eiger refutes his correspondent's counter-argument and develops an intricate proof from three Talmudic passages that pasin do not require samchu alav mi'be'od yom. He then undermines his own proof by noting that it depends on the disputed question of whether a breached courtyard wall constitutes isnehu le'diyurin, with Tosfos apparently holding it does not and the Rosh holding it does. The teshuvah closes with tzarich iyun.
