The Chasam Sofer validates the original kiddushin, ruling that a woman can transfer ownership of her ring to the groom for betrothal purposes, and that at minimum the act constitutes a she'ilah sufficient for kiddushin. He also permits the wife of R' Avraham the innkeeper of Kastellan to remarry based on the combined evidence of distinctive teeth, tevi'as ayin on body build, and identification of clothing, applying the Maharal's mah nafshach argument together with the Chacham Tzvi's principle regarding the rarity of she'ilah.
