Validity of Get with Multiple Errors in Wife's Name

From: Rabbi Moshe Sofer

To: Unknown recipient

Description

A get sent from Wallachia contained multiple scribal errors in the wife's name Riva — two vavs replacing a beis, an inserted yud, and an alef instead of a hei — changing it to Rivva. The Chasam Sofer rules the get is unquestionably invalid, and even if the woman had already remarried on this get's basis, she must leave the second marriage, as no single justification resolves all the errors simultaneously.
