Validity of Ches Without Choter and Scraping Touching Letters in God's Name

From: Rabbi Moshe Sofer

To: Unknown recipient

Description

The Chasam Sofer reaffirms his earlier rulings in response to analytical challenges: a Ches without a choter is invalid per the Rivash, and it is permitted to scrape touching letter parts within God's Name in a Sefer Torah since the scraping constitutes repair, not destruction. He also defends his reading of the lev Beis Din masneh principle as unnecessary in the Pesachim case.
