Validity of a Get Missing the Final Yud in the Word Minai

Description

A get was discovered to have omitted the final yud of the word מנאי, rendering it מנא (a vessel) rather than the intended מנאי (from me). The Chasam Sofer surveys three Rishonic positions — the Rambam (invalid), the Itur (valid if a scribe erred), and the Rosh (lenient when a new get is difficult to obtain) — as well as a phonological argument that the final yud may be a silent quiescent letter, but finds none of these grounds sufficiently certain to permit the woman to remarry. He neither forbids nor permits, leaving room for a more lenient ruling by others while declining to join it himself.
