The Chasam Sofer rules that the kort dam test applies a fortiori to illness-caused wounds but need not be actively sought unless visible; upholds the student's objection that scissors completing a siman invalidates the shechitah, though even the scissors-as-shearing argument cannot be relied upon for a possible Torah prohibition; and defends the local rabbi's ruling permitting publicized Erev Shabbos animal sales to non-Jewish maidservants, invoking the principle that in rabbinic matters one may act first and analyze afterward.
