From: Rabbi Moshe Sofer
To: Rabbi Moshe Elistaabi
After a wolf attacked a flock of one hundred sheep in a courtyard, killing one and wounding another, the Chasam Sofer rules that while all remaining sheep are technically suspect as derusos, three independent grounds for leniency permit retaining them for twelve months. He further permits milking all the sheep into a single vessel, ruling that the milk of the suspected animals is nullified by a simple majority, and conditions the ruling on the agreement of Rabbi David.
