After a wolf reportedly attacked one sheep in a flock of 130, the Chasam Sofer rules the remaining sheep are clearly permitted on multiple grounds: wounds are ordinarily attributed to non-predatory animals, the non-Jew's report does not qualify as mesiach lefi tumo, the same testimony that implicated the wolf exonerated the rest of the flock, and any potential minority is nullified by the majority. Selling the sheep to a non-Jew is praiseworthy but not legally required.
