The Chasam Sofer investigates whether sewing or gluing multiple parchment pieces together renders them halachically 'one document' for Sifrei Torah, tefillin, mezuzos, gittin, and Sotah scrolls. He establishes a graduated framework: sewing validates a Sefer Torah and tefillin batim but not a get; gluing is insufficient for any domain; and mezuzah and Sotah require even stricter unity of a single page.
