Certain communities recited the full Sheva Berachos on the night of delayed consummation, long after the seven days of feasting had ended, defending this as ancestral custom. The Chasam Sofer finds a theoretical basis in the Rokeach's practice and the Ran's rationale of pitui, but ultimately rules the custom should be abolished due to the serious concern of berachah l'vatalah, as its original justification no longer applies under current practice of observing seven full days of Sheva Berachos.
