A man whose diseased testicle was surgically removed asked whether he bears the status of petzua daka, which would prohibit him from remaining married to a Jewish-born woman. The Chasam Sofer rules leniently, holding that since the damage originated from illness it is classified as bidei shamayim according to the majority of Poskim, that the surgeon's subsequent removal of the remnant does not add a new bidei adam disqualification, and that the weight of authority — together with the chazakah of the existing marriage — supports permitting him to remain with his wife.
