Description

An ox that escaped to a marsh fell during pursuit, was bound on all four legs, and loaded onto a sled without prior bedikah before slaughter. The Chasam Sofer affirms the stringent ruling prohibiting the meat, primarily because the bound animal thrown onto the sled constitutes hippiluhu acheirim, creating a Torah-level nefula concern requiring bedikah, which was not performed. He notes that a lenient ruling would have some basis based on the Pri To'ar's minimum height requirement of four tefachim for hippiluhu acheirim.
