From: Rabbi Moshe Sofer
To: Rabbi Moshe Mintz
The Chasam Sofer defends the established practice of omitting mention of the hot springs (mei chamin) in gittin written in Pest, arguing that the springs lie across the Danube in the separately named city of Ofen and thus cannot be attributed to Pest's municipal identity. He further notes that changing the practice would cast aspersion on the many valid gittin already issued there.
