A goose gizzard was found with half a needle embedded in each side of its wall, with intact tissue between them and no kort dam or rust present; another rabbi ruled it kosher close to Yom Tov in the community rabbi's absence. The Chasam Sofer concludes he would not have permitted it originally, but since the ruling rabbi had a defensible rationale and the community rabbi declined to reverse an already-executed decision, the ruling is upheld post facto, and the questioner need not be embarrassed by critics.
