To: Rabbi Yosef Maya
The case concerns goose fat that sat three days without salting, which cannot be roasted since it melts. Rabbi Akiva Eiger rejects proposed leniencies based on the Ran and Taz but ultimately permits mixing the fat with other properly salted fat, relying on the Rashba's ruling that for Rabbinic prohibitions one may add to an existing mixture to nullify (mosif u'mevateil). The fat should first be salted and rinsed before being mixed, and the leniency applies only in cases of significant financial loss.
