Jews who had paid earnest money for wine broke one of the two seals in a dispute, leaving the wine in the non-Jew's cellar overnight with only one seal. The Chasam Sofer concurs with the lenient ruling, arguing that the non-Jew had no benefit from substituting the wine, feared exposure by Jewish workers nearby, and that according to Rabbeinu Tam's accepted ruling that one seal suffices in cases of financial loss, the Rashba's stringency does not apply.
