A bull was slaughtered containing numerous shot pellets, including one in the liver and one near the esophagus, yet the local moreh permitted it without any bedikah. The Chasam Sofer rules the moreh acted incorrectly, as the number of pellets, the risk of esophageal perforation, and a novel concern about thermal scorching from gunpowder all require examination. Since the meat was already eaten and the vessels would sit unused for nearly twelve months, the Chasam Sofer permits the vessels without prohibition, and advises the moreh be corrected privately to preserve his dignity.
