Kashering a Pot with Milk and the Nefulah Walking Test

From: Rabbi Akiva Eiger

To: Unknown recipient

Description

Rabbi Akiva Eiger affirms his son Shlomo's two rulings: that a metal pot contaminated by soldiers' pork may be kashered via hagalah using milk when no water is available (a sha'as hadchak treated like b'dieved per the Rema in OC 452:5), and that an ox which fell and afterward walked at normal strength—though not with its prior exceptional vigor—qualifies as hiluch yafeh, in accordance with the majority of poskim against the Issur V'Heter's stricter standard.
