From: Rabbi Moshe Sofer
To: Rabbi Lipman
The Chasam Sofer rules leniently that a davar gush does not have kli rishon status, following the Rema over the Maharshal, especially in cases of significant financial loss. He further argues that even granting the Maharshal's position, dry-heat transfer analogous to roasting does not constitute Torah-level bishul for basar bechalav according to the Ran, creating at most a rabbinic concern. He adds a tradition from his teacher Rabbi Nosson Adler to be lenient regarding davar gush in times of need.
