The Chasam Sofer defends the Pelesi's ruling that the gid hanasheh exists in female animals by arguing that since the Torah's prohibition applies equally to Jewish women, there must be no logical basis to distinguish male from female animals — proving the gid is present in both sexes and vindicating traditional nikur practice. He also offers an elaborate analysis of kilayim in priestly garments, the principle of mitzvos lav leihanos nitnu, and R' Yochanan's statement in Menachos 45a regarding Eliyahu HaNavi's future exposition.
