From: Rabbi Moshe Sofer
To: Rabbi Meir
The Chasam Sofer advises using metal or planed wooden pipes to channel rainwater into a mikvah, ruling that natural hollowing of pipes can disqualify the mikvah and that properly constructed pipes require no additional modifications. He also cautions against drilling holes in the mikvah floorboards due to the Torah-level concern of zochlin, and warns that iron fasteners could render the boards susceptible to tumah.
