Blood Found Due to Uterine Prolapse and Niddah Status

From: Rabbi Akiva Eiger

To: Unknown recipient

Description

A woman with uterine prolapse frequently finds blood, sometimes through bedikah and sometimes without it. Rabbi Akiva Eiger arrives at a heavily qualified leniency based on multiple factors: blood appearing as small particles (kurtein) lacks the presumption of hargashah, enabling reliance on the Rema's sfek sfeka leniency outside the time of veses, with the abnormal manner of seeing as an additional support. He advises limiting bedikah to the first and seventh of the shivah nekiyim and qualifies his ruling as theoretical, pending concurrence from leading authorities.
