Bird Olah vs. Bird Chatas and Haktarah for Mechusarei Kaparah

From: Rabbi Akiva Eiger

To: Unknown recipient

Description

Rabbi Akiva Eiger refutes an unnamed scholar's challenge to the Maharsha's analysis of Pesachim 59a, demonstrating that a poor yoledes who brings only bird offerings still has a bird olah subject to haktarah, unlike a bird chatas which involves no altar-burning. He further critiques the Tzlach's alternative resolution, arguing that the rabbinic prohibition on mechusarei kaparah eating kodashim applies to a zav as well, since his bird olah also involves haktarah.
