Bathing Prohibition for Bogeres and Festival Interruptions of Mourning Periods

Date: 2 Nissan 5582

From: Rabbi Moshe Sofer

To: Unknown recipient

Description

The Chasam Sofer proposes a textual emendation to SA YD 381 to resolve the difficulty regarding a bogeres's bathing prohibition during mourning, and defends SA YD 399's apparent fourth position on Rosh Hashana and Yom Kippur counting toward shiva and sheloshim through a nuanced reading of Ravina's statement in MK 24b. He appends ten additional observations on Hilchos Avel and Masechta Semachos.
