Attributing Bedikah Blood to Hemorrhoid Wound During Shivah Nekiyim

From: Rabbi Akiva Eiger

To: Rabbi Lipman

Description

A woman who developed hemorrhoids after childbirth found blood on her bedikah cloth on the second day of her shivah nekiyim after her hand contacted the wound. Rabbi Akiva Eiger systematically examines multiple grounds for leniency — including attribution to the wound, the status of blood within the first three days of counting, and the Avodas HaGershuni's view on days elapsed before counting began — and finds each insufficient to permit continuing the count without invalidation. He concludes with a sharp question on the Taz's ruling in Siman 190 regarding rectal-area blood.
