Rabbi Yaakov Yosef of Polonne was an early Hasidic rabbi, preacher, and author who was among the first disciples of the Baal Shem Tov. He is best known for Toldos Yaakov Yosef, the first book of Hasidism to be published, and for his role in articulating and disseminating the movement's teachings.
