Biography

A leading disciple of Rabbi Yisrael Salanter, Rabbi Yosef Yozel Horowitz was a central figure in the Mussar movement. Known as the Alter of Novardok, he founded an influential yeshiva network that emphasized self-abnegation and trust in God. He led his yeshiva through the upheavals of World War I, relocating several times.
