Rabbi Yosef Shlomo Kahaneman was the Rosh Yeshiva of the Ponevezh Yeshiva in Lithuania. After its destruction in the Holocaust, he re-established the yeshiva in Bnei Brak, developing it into a significant Torah institution. He was instrumental in establishing numerous other Torah institutions.
