Rabbi Yonasan Eibeschutz was a prominent Talmudist and preacher who served as dayan of Prague before becoming the rabbi of the "Three Communities" of Altona, Hamburg, and Wandsbek. He authored the halachic commentaries Urim V’Tumim and Kreisi U’Pleisi on the Shulchan Aruch, and the collection of sermons Ya'aros Dvash. His career was marked by a controversy with Rabbi Yaakov Emden, who accused him of harboring Sabbatean beliefs, a charge Rabbi Eibeschutz denied.
