Biography

Rabbi Yitzchak Yaakov Weiss, known by the title Minchas Yitzchak from his multi-volume responsa, was a dayan and posek. He served as Av Beis Din in Groswardein and later as chief rabbinical judge of the Manchester beis din before becoming head of the Beis Din of the Eidah Chareidis in Jerusalem. His shu"t Minchas Yitzchak became a widely cited contemporary source on complex questions of halacha, especially in areas of modern technology and medical ethics.
