Rabbi Yissachar Shlomo Teichtal was a Rosh Yeshiva in Hungary and author of the halachic responsa Mishneh Sachir. During the Holocaust, he underwent a theological transformation, advocating for Jewish settlement in the Land of Israel. While in hiding, he authored Eim HaBanim Semeichah, arguing for the physical rebuilding of the Land as a precursor to the Redemption. He died in 1945 on a transport train, murdered by guards for defending a fellow Jew.
