Biography

Rabbi Yichye Kapach was a Chief Rabbi and dayan of the Jewish community in Sana'a, Yemen. He served as a primary instructor in the central yeshiva and later headed the modern Jewish school established by the Ottoman authorities. He was associated with efforts to reform Jewish schooling and with a traditionalist, rationalist orientation that emphasized the study of Rambam and opposition to contemporary kabbalistic currents.
