Rabbi Yehuda Rosanes served as Chief Rabbi of the Ottoman Empire. He is known for his commentary, Mishneh LaMelech, on Rabbi Moshe ben Maimon's Mishneh Torah. This work is printed in most editions of the Mishneh Torah and is considered a foundational text for halachic study. As Chakham Bashi in Istanbul, he was involved in the communal response to the Sabbatean movement.
