Biography

Rabbi Yehuda ben Shimon Ashkenazi served as dayan in Tykocin, Poland. He authored the Ba'er Hetev, a concise commentary on the first three sections of the Shulchan Arukh: Orach Chaim, Yoreh De'ah, and Even HaEzer. The work first appeared in the Amsterdam editions of 1753 and 1760 and became a standard gloss in subsequent printings.
