Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh Leib Alter was the second Rebbe of the Ger Chasidic dynasty, leading one of the largest Chasidic communities in Poland. His homilies and novellae on the Torah and Talmud were published posthumously as Sfas Emes. These works became foundational texts of Chasidic thought.
