Rabbi Yehuda Amital was an Orthodox rabbi and religious Zionist leader who served as rosh yeshiva of Yeshivat Har Etzion in Alon Shvut and was active in Israeli public life. He helped pioneer the concept of the hesder yeshiva, founded Yeshivat Har Etzion as a major hesder institution, and established the Meimad political movement while serving briefly as a minister in the Israeli cabinet.
