Rabbi Yehoshua ben Yosef of Krakow was a leading Talmudist in 17th-century Poland, serving as Av Beis Din in Krakow. His work, Maginei Shlomo, systematically defended Rashi's commentary on the Talmud against Tosafist critiques, demonstrating Rashi's internal consistency. Among his students was Rabbi Shabsai HaKohen (the Shach).
