Rabbi Yaakov Yisrael Kanievsky was a leading halachic authority in the Israeli Charedi community. He was the brother-in-law of the Chazon Ish and settled in Bnei Brak, where he served as a spiritual guide. His primary work, Kehillos Yaakov, is a collection of discourses on Talmudic topics. He was considered a significant leader in the non-Chasidic world after the passing of the Chazon Ish.
