Biography

Rabbi Yaakov Reischer was a Bohemian-Austrian halakhic authority and author best known for Shevus Yaakov, a three-volume responsa work that became central in later halakhic literature. He also wrote Chok Yaakov on the laws of Pesach and Iyun Yaakov on Ein Yaakov, and he served as a communal rabbi in Ansbach, Worms, and Metz while remaining identified with Prague as a center of his scholarship.
