Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch Chajes was a Galician Talmudic scholar, known as the Maharatz Chajes. He served as Rabbi of Zhovkva. His major work, Mevo HaTalmud, is a systematic introduction to Talmudic methodology. He also authored Toras Nevi'im on the nature of prophecy and Darkei Hora'ah on halachic decision-making. He was a grandson of Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch Chajes of Brody and studied under Rabbi Ephraim Zalman Margolios.
