Rabbi Sholom Dovber Schneerson was the fifth Rebbe of Chabad-Lubavitch, succeeding his father Rabbi Shmuel Schneerson in 1882. He led the movement for thirty-eight years, during which he founded the Tomchei Temimim yeshiva in 1897, integrating Chassidic thought into its curriculum. His analytical discourses, including Samech Vov in 1906, systematized Chabad philosophy and emphasized outreach to Jewish communities.
