Biography

Rabbi Shmuel Yehuda Katzenellenbogen was an Italian rabbi and son of Rabbi Meir Katzenellenbogen, the Chief Rabbi of Padua. After his father's death in 1565, he was elected rabbi of Venice and authored numerous responsa and homilies. His twelve derashot, published in 1594, document his halachic and exegetical thought.
