Rabbi Shlomo Yosef Zevin was a leading Talmudic scholar and halachic authority in 20th-century Religious Zionism. He founded and served as chief editor of the Encyclopedia Talmudit, a comprehensive Hebrew halachic encyclopedia whose first volume appeared in 1947. He also authored works including HaMoadim BeHalacha on the laws of Jewish festivals and Sippurei Chassidim, Chassidic tales arranged by Torah portion and holiday.
