Biography

Rabbi Shlomo Wolbe was a leading mussar master and mashgiach of the postwar yeshiva world, best known for Alei Shur, his major work on inner growth and avodas Hashem. He studied in prewar European yeshivos under Rabbi Yerucham Levovitz and Rabbi Chatzkel Levenstein, and later served as mashgiach of Yeshivas Be’er Yaakov and other institutions in Eretz Yisrael. His writings and teaching made him one of the central transmitters of the Mussar tradition in the modern yeshiva world.
