Rabbi Shaul Lieberman was a Talmudic scholar specializing in rabbinic literature and its Greco-Roman context. He served as Professor of Talmud and rector at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America. His editions and commentaries on the Tosefta, Yerushalmi, and related texts became central to academic and halachic study of Chazal. He also led the Harry Fischel Institute for Talmudic Research in Yerushalayim and was president of the American Academy for Jewish Research for many years.
