Rabbi Rephoel Baruch Sorotzkin was a Rosh Yeshiva of the Telshe Yeshiva in Cleveland, where he played a central role in the postwar re-establishment of the Lithuanian yeshiva tradition in the United States. The son of Rabbi Zalman Sorotzkin and son-in-law of Rabbi Eliyahu Meir Bloch, he combined intensive Torah scholarship with extensive communal leadership through Agudath Israel of America. His drashos and shiurim circulated widely, influencing the ethos of American-born bnei Torah.
