Rabbi Ovadia of Bertinoro was a Mishnah commentator and communal rabbi, primarily known for his Commentary on the Mishnah, which became a standard explanatory text in printed editions of the Mishnah. After settling in Yerushalayim, he played a major role in the city’s Jewish communal life and in the organization of a yeshiva there.
