Rabbi Nosson Meir Wachtfogel was the long-time mashgiach ruchani of Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood and a formative figure in the postwar expansion of Torah learning in America. He was a talmid of the Kelm Talmud Torah, Yeshivas Rabbenu Yitzchak Elchanan, Mir, and Rav Baruch Ber Lebowitz, and he co-founded the original Beth Medrash Govoha kollel in White Plains. His influence was especially associated with mussar and with the development of kollelim and branch yeshivos connected to Lakewood.
