Biography

Rabbi Nosson Adler was a Rosh Yeshiva in Frankfurt who combined Talmudic scholarship with the Kabbalah of the Arizal. His adoption of Sephardic liturgy and mystical practices drew opposition from the Frankfurt rabbinate. His influence endured through his talmid, Rabbi Moshe Sofer, known as the Chasam Sofer.
